Dream Journal: 'Iris'

Otherwise known as my "Dream guardian" of sorts.

It is unknown if the creature is male or female, or if it even has a gender at all.

The creature doesn't even have a name, but will respond to any name beginning with "I", and thus I refer to it as "Iris" just for ease of speaking, but whenever I talk to it in dreams, the name keeps changing.

"Iris" appears to look like some mix between a bird and a cat, with long, semi-matted fur on top, and a fleshy feeling skin covered underbelly, which feels horribly skin-crawling to the touch. Said underbelly is alined with circular scars.

"Iris" has the ability to retract its tail and all its limbs into itself, making itself look like a caterpillar. It is also semi-adhesive, and it able to craw up anything.

While it may look like a beak, the thing on its face is actually a large tooth,poking out of the creature's large mouth housing two long yellow tongues and highly corrosive saliva.

The appearance of this creature always has an odd mixture of familiar security and fear discomfort, despite the fact that the creature has in no way made any moves to harm me in any way shape of from.

No matter what the context of the dream it appears in. And no matter whom I may be in the dream, I always know who the creature is and it's story.

Who or what EXACTLY this creature is suppose to be and why it keeps showing up in my dreams, perhaps I shall never know....
